Artist Jeong Young-han’s ‘Icon’ exhibition reinterprets 20th-century art icons

n exhibition of the famous artist Jeong Young-han, known for his 'Icon' series, has opened. The exhibition, titled 'Image, fragment of the time-ICON', centers around his artistic imagination of time.
Jeong has been creating his artworks based on the concept of time as the axis of artistic imagination. In this exhibition, he drew 20th-century artists who have continued to have an influence on today’s art scene, focusing on his work ‘Portrait of an Artist, A Tribute to My Heroes.
‘The ‘Icon’ series began in 2007 with portraits of contemporary myths, such as Andy Warhol, Marilyn Monroe, and Audrey Hepburn. As a 21st-century artist, Jeong has attempted to interpret ghosts who wield immense power beyond time and space through his paintings. He stated that his interpretation, which represents something that symbolizes artists as ‘icons of icons,’ draws not only from his methodology of painting but also from his philosophical standpoint and research attitude. This exhibition is drawing great interest as it reinterprets artists who have become stars in the history of humanity as ‘superheroes’ through Jeong Young-han’s ‘Icon’ series.
