Artworks that were once exclusive to the elite class possessed a unique quality, only accessible during special occasions due to their revered value. In the pre-modern era, the term ‘aura’ carried metaphysical and religious connotations, signifying authority. The twelve zodiac animals, regarded as transcendent beings bound to specific periods, exuded a self-referential aura, embodying historical and religious attributes.
However, in the current era of Web 3.0, characterized by intelligent decentralization and liberation from internet platforms, artworks are no longer confined by time and space. Art transcends historical and material limitations, and the realm it encompasses extends beyond precise temporal and spatial coordinates.
The concept of ‘aura’, rooted in uniqueness and originality, remains present in contemporary art. However, the essence of this ‘aura’ has evolved, detached from historical, religious, and spatiotemporal constraints. Against this backdrop, the reinterpreted digital zodiac emanates a diverse and boundless presence in each viewer’s experience. The twelve deities now radiate an aura as everyday entities, shedding their absolute and authoritative nature.
