The character in the drama ‘Our Blues,’ who played the role of Yeong-ok’s (played by Han Ji-Min) twin sister Young-hee became a hot topic of conversation with her intense presence, reflecting the tendency of the actor Jung Eun Hye. She is an active painter who has painted caricatures, moved into Jamsil Creative Studio of the Seoul Cultural Foundation, and painted portraits since 2016 at the Moonho-ri River Market in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province, and has painted more than 4,000 faces so far.

Jung Eun Hye has Down syndrome, developmental disabilities, mental symptoms, and social disabilities in public interactions. When the support from the education facilities for the disabled disappeared as she became an adult, social disconnection and regression came, overlapping mental diseases, schizophrenia, and tic appeared, and eventually, hallucinations also occurred.  That is when she started painting.

Painting was the only medium that allowed her to start communicating with others. Her symptoms of schizophrenia have disappeared since she started painting. At the River Market, held in June 2022 in Moonho-ri, Yangpyeong, she made people smile by complimenting their natural beauty to those who asked her to paint their faces pretty. She was slowly adapting to society and starting to have genuine conversations with others.

After the drama’s success, the non-mainstream and minority characteristics of the “difference” in the art field have been converted into their strength. Society’s reaction to her work also significantly changed in a good way, touching many people’s hearts with her work.
