2. 50 I want to turn back time, 2023
I love clock paintings. I enjoy reminiscing about old clocks. I want to draw a cheerful clock painting. I want to draw it the way I think and feel.
In my paintings, I am the protagonist. My stories are embedded in clock paintings. When I see the Cheongdo Ori Baksook clock, it always brings a smile to my face. It reminds me of joyful memories with my aunt when I was five. The smell of grilled beef also uplifts my mood, just like the clock associated with it. I love the sound of a chiming clock, the delicious taste of meat, and the elegance of clocks.
The clock at the Grand Hotel swimming pool doesn’t make me feel good. I was afraid of the water, and thinking about the swimming pool clock makes me feel upset.
The reason I remember clocks in my mind is that when I visited those places, my mood was either good or bad… So I looked at the clock, and those memories came back to me. That’s why I drew the clocks while thinking about the ones I saw at that time and place. It helps me understand my own feelings and thoughts, and that’s why I enjoy it.
I have emotions, and I know my own mood. I am good at expressing my mood. It’s easier and more fun for me to express it through drawings. I really enjoy drawing. It makes me proud and happy. I feel content. It’s great when people look at my drawings.
I feel relaxed when I look at my own drawings. I am the protagonist of my own thoughts. I love myself. I want to express myself just as I am right now. I think I’m doing well at the moment.
