In modern art, matter is not just a material or tool, but itself becomes a work and a concept.

The beauty of art is an important measure of fundamental values and aesthetics, and an important subject.

My standards of aesthetic beauty are derived from nature, and among them, acting images are leading to attempts by various media.
Smoke cannot be caught as a de-material, not a substance or a non-material, but it exists visually.

Recently, I have been thinking about the definition of natural beauty, and I think about how to capture the disappearing form of acting philosophically, not images.

Since smoke is a natural material, aesthetic beauty is reconstructed through digital montage to make it look natural rather than artificial.

As the hundreds and thousands of images of smoke are filmed and overlapped, it’s close to painting but the result is likely to be produced in output. Such labor-intensive behaviors keep to the middle way, not fixing on the functions as painting or picture. What I want to tell is not the smoke image. It’s about things which exist for a moment or the past or present that we’ve experienced so far. In other words, the organic, phenomenal of the past and present that disappear and generate is reflected into the smoke.

I made an installation and sculpture through study about the smoke (intangible) from 2007 to now. Also, I try to change intangible to tangible by using many materials. Smoke is moving phenomenon, so I use photograph technique to imagery realistically and visually. In this work, extend of material is the power of unlimited possibility. This work is imagery a phenomenon by using the smoke(intangible). So I want to show my concept to audiences in  by digital-work and installation.

I’ve been interested in the astonishing beauties of nature and among them, especially fascinated by the dreamlike movement of smoke. From these indescribable inspiration, I’m trying to re-interpret the phenomenon with new perception and proceeding my work. Smoke is exist but it’s not fixed. It embraces surroundings changed its shape by gentle wind and atmosphere, exists in air. This variable being creates a visual imagination ,making stream of free-abstraction without any formulaic boundary

and weaves fantastic stories. I want to catch this spontaneity of moment ,when the smoke changes its shape and it begins to tell their stories to us, by sculpting unpredictable movement of it. I want to show you an aesthetic and fantastic factors of this immaterial phenomenon. And I eager to create whole new beauty which contains the result of my constant meditation about the images of nature that I face every moment.

From those things I pay attention that I can make a new form of smoke phenomenon by artificial combine. Free white air phenomenon which is intangible and can’t touch is desire subject for me. Untouchable, can’t have thing. If you watch the smoke’s phenomenon, you can find that it starts from thin point to become numerous free lines. And these lines appear as piled up curve. I express these natural phenomenon by lots of expression. Recently I collected many images of smoke. And I work to make a form by a more than hundred times of pile up. The reason that I want to make it is I have a fantasy that I can be free like a smoke. Expect to touch untouchable thing, want to have that they can’t have is a normal desire for the people. I project those hope into smoke to express intangible things by emotional work and I expect that I share the feeling with audiences.
