Sooyeon Han

Sooyeon-Han-profile

Forgetting my youth of purity, I became mature, experiencing all the despairs and pains from the society. Ever since I was little, I grew up with deep sorrow, and those sorrow became part of myself.

I have failed to shine being a vagabond and having nowhere else but painting my emotions staring from my tip of the brush. And Tried to understand truly about myself. Revealing sadness through my drawing, beauty is hidden in sadness.

Sooyeon Han (born in 1994, in Busan, South Korea) is a Korean artist graduated at the Academy of fine arts in Carrara, and currently based in Italy. Before moving to Italy, she graduated from Peniel high school of the arts in 2009, and then she got her bachelor of fine art degree in 2013 at Konkuk University. She worked with various media, including moving images and photography, oil painting, and pen drawings. Her drawings and videos show the same careful attention to detail and human proportion as her other works. Her works focused on the ideas behind fundamental loneliness. She is focused on representing the surrounding environment in art and the way to see the world is complicated but flexible, and it can move from the absurd to a more critical approach to human beings. She could see through human endurance, solidarity, a sense of responsibility, and compassion. When all of Europe was on lockdown for coronavirus it was another teaching moment for her life in Italy. She could see more clearly the work and understand herself. In all her theoretical and critical works, she used cynical expressions based on skeptical attitudes and subtle narratives. Her way to represent that view is mainly through images. She attended several group exhibitions, with projects focused on a wide variety of art styles, from photography to painting and paper drawings.
