nfluential roving art project, 'We Buy Gold,' has launched its latest edition, featuring a juxtaposition of emerging artists like Nandi Loaf and renowned figures like Kerry James Marshall and David Hammons.

Titled “SEVEN,” this iteration of We Buy Gold takes place across two galleries in New York’s Chelsea district: Nicola Vassell Gallery and Jack Shainman Gallery, with Joeonna Bellorado-Samuels serving as the director.

‘We Buy Gold’ is a mobile project space founded in 2017, dedicated to presenting exhibitions, commissioned works, and public events that critically deconstruct systems of power through art. The current edition explores how artists disrupt the politics of space, time, and language to envision an alternative world.

Speaking in a recent video interview with ARTnews, Bellorado-Samuels explained, “It’s about the in-between. We Buy Gold has always been about adaptability, and I’m particularly interested in how artists incorporate that fluidity into their own practices and the dialogues they engage in within that in-between space.”

The showcased artists in the exhibition, running until August 11, include Max Guy, Renee Gladman, David Hammons, Nandi Loaf, Abigail Lucien, Kerry James Marshall, Lorraine O’Grady, Ashley Teamer, Charisse Pearlina Weston, and Lynette Yiadom-Boakye.
