Since ancient times, humans have given certain images and storytelling to various
animals and plants to regard them as a sign of disaster or good luck, or to serve them as guardians that have mythical abilities. Therefore, the images of animals and plants were used as various metaphors naturally in various religions, myths, and murals, which lead to a creation of common image of animals and plants globally.

People have created and used magical tools with the images of natural objects
mentioned above to escape negative situations or disasters, or to achieve wishes and desires. For example, the natives in Korean Peninsula regarded flying birds as divine envoy of God and by creating Sotdae, mimicking the image of birds, to overcome the fear of will o’ the wisp. Also, the image of dried pollack, considered as a sacred animal of the sea, to prevent loss of the wealth.

Furthermore, they created not only the objects for the act of eum-bok (partaking of sacrificial food and drink), but also the everyday goods with wishes. For example, the images of turtle, crane and pine tree were engraved on cloths, folding screens, crates, and clothing to wish longevity and incense burner were made with Buddhist wishes.
I tried to expand the possibility of furniture, one of the closest objects in our life, beyond the comfort, usual goal of furniture production, by putting the meaning of traditional clothes into furniture.

Throughout the world of my work, it was necessary to choose whether to express
religious colors deeper or to conclude with the realization of a narrative. It was judged that if the religious color was too intense, the target users would be biased, and if the narrative was used as the motif, the magical function felt by the user would be reduced. However, because I wanted to give emotional comfort to many users, I chose a narrative approach, and the lack of magical aura was replaced with the overwhelming visual expression. Such a research process consists of a lot of aesthetic value of myself, and as a result, it has deviated from the perfect implementation of the narrative motif. I felt a limitation as to whether this could be persuasive to the user for magical functions. Therefore, I think my work should be more specific and need detailed storytelling.

Future studies will not just be combining and religiousizating my world of work into a single paged story, but will communicate with the public as a multiple paged art books such as The Bible. To achieve what I aim for, I will conduct research on various religions, tales, and superstitions that can persuade users. In addition, various physical properties such as wood, iron, ceramics, FRP, and weaving have been used for expression so far. The level of these techniques will also be raised to the next level. Because irrational, but life-enriching characteristics of humanity such as faith, hope, and love, will not end even in the 30th century, the value of these furniture will continue as well. I am trying to propose a new direction that gives not only ordinary comfort, but also emotional comfort in different way to modern people living tough daily life.
