As I looked at the city, a thought suddenly crossed my mind. “We are imperfect beings living in a world of concrete.” In order to feel the connection between all the countless city lights and the world, do we endlessly search for something today as well?

With a background in fine arts and nearly 20 years of experience in the Korean film industry, I have grown alongside movies. I have participated as a VFX artist in approximately 80 domestic and international films and drama productions, exploring various genres of artistic fields ranging from matte painting, concept design, exhibition video art, short and feature-length animations, to virtual character design. Currently, I am engaged in personal content IP development and art projects.

Exploring fuzzy, empty, cozy, broken, and uplifting emotions, I always find stories in the subjects I draw. I am interested in fragile and imperfect beings like broken individuals, those in progress, malfunctioning individuals, and people shedding tears. I express them as characters and imbue them with their own stories and various emotions. From the past, I have always hoped that those who see my drawings would deeply feel a sense of heaviness or shed tears. The meaning behind those tears can encompass not only sadness but also joy, empathy, delight, and tears for others, representing various emotions that individuals have experienced and been moved by. I still hold the same hope. And if, in that moment, they discover fragments of their own broken selves, even if only for a brief moment, I hope they can be filled or gain something. I strive to create artwork that can move hearts.

My Asian world, pop art, and stories. I am particularly interested in Eastern philosophy and culture, and I create and draw stories by indulging in imaginative thoughts within the realm of Eastern fantasy. I am often inspired by the transcendental feelings found in indigenous beliefs and spiritual elements. The allure of Eastern ideology always seems to hold infinite value for me. Within my unique Eastern fantasy world, I find it most enjoyable when characters come to life, breathe, and engage in conversations. Additionally, I consider it important to give past events present relevance and establish connections while exploring universal human emotions. Within my works, I pursue the value of “emptiness” and the aesthetics of “emptiness,” eliminating unnecessary elements and creating space. Simplicity. It is an effort to capture only the most essential aspects, and I believe in the power of solidity and clarity that this effort brings. I strive to visually express all these elements in an approachable and enjoyable manner, focusing on revealing the depth and essence of my artwork.
